Good Health and Well Being

Every effort is taken to ensure the proper handling of dangerous drugs.  Where appropriate children or young people are encouraged to administer their own medication where this does not present a danger to themselves or other residents.  Naturally staff operate an unobtrusive oversight in these situations and actively seek to educate all the children or young people on the dangers of substance and alcohol abuse.

All staff at Howestead Lodge have been given comprehensive training on all aspects of substance and drug abuse by “North East Council on Addictions” (NECCA).
